To better understand things, I'm new to California (only been here for six months) and don't have a car and am living in a room share situation near UCLA. So, it's hard to get around. My guy usually picks me up at my place or I meet him at a train station near his place to hang out. We only see each other over the weekend or once a week. So, his excuse for not going to my things are that he always has car problems. One time he ditched me to work on his music. Another time his car broke down so we didn't see each other for two weeks. And now his sticker is expired so it's technically illegal to drive. However, he drove to Anaheim NAMM with this same illegal car. Long story short, he didn't go to a free concert I invited him to. I asked him a week in advance and he said yes. A day before the concert he didn't seem up for it and told me to confirm the next morning- the day of the concert. I did and he avoided me til later that afternoon. He finally said no since he was afraid his car might get towed since his car sticker is expired and technically illegal to drive. I got mad because even though he had a valid reason. This is an excuse I've been hearing a lot. I told him I was upset even though I understand his situation, but he hasn't gone to anything I invited him to while I always try to go to his events. Then I asked if he still wanted to be with me since he was acting weird in general and on the phone. He answered, "Yes, hun. Stop over analyzing everything." Then throughout the afternoon he texted me four times saying sorry, he's a jerk, sorry he let me down, he feels bad, etc. But over the phone he'd be weird or say I was making a big deal. So I don't know if he's just saying that to please since he verbally said I was making a big deal or if he's really sorry. I don't think I'm making a big deal about this. I rarely invite him to things but it would be nice if he showed up to mine since I go to his. Also, since this seems like a problem that might continue, should I stop going to his events.
